Snoozing an email is a way to remind you of an email at a later time. It’s great to see new technology coming through in mobile devices, but it’s sad when Microsoft’s vaunted campaign to make increased use of artificial intelligence and machine learning is incapable of supporting features outside the U.S. If you tap decline, the event will not appear on your calendar. In my case, it’s the Western Europe datacenter region where the active copy of my mailbox might be in Dublin, Amsterdam, Vienna, or Helsinki, depending on how Exchange Online feels like on the day in question. A more normal example might be to process messages while driving into work, in countries where this kind of mobile usage is allowed. Customers were offered the chance to ride an exercise bike while processing their inbox, an activity that raised several thousand dollars for charity. Microsoft made a big thing of the Play My Emails feature at the Ignite 2019 Conference. Or, as Microsoft says in the original announcement about Time to Leave in December 2017, markets where “Cortana is available.” Play My Emails, which allows Office 365 users to have their email read to them and to respond with voice commands, and Time to Leave, which prompts users when they need to leave their current location to be on time for a meeting, are both only available in the U.S. with no information available when they might become available elsewhere. However, it’s not good that some of the more interesting features in Outlook are currently confined to the U.S. Outlook mobile has been on a roll in terms of introducing new features recently. Play My Emails and Time to Leave Both Need Cortana For example, you might decide to silence some accounts and keep others active when you expect some high-priority messages to arrive. Optimize Gmail for snoozingīoth Gmail and Outlook handle snoozing in essentially the same way: You can select a preset time to have the message return to your inbox, or choose your own custom date and time.Click the alarm bell to change or disable the settings. Just remember that the message will still go out unless you cancel it first. It helps users check all the snoozed emails whenever. That way, it’ll come back to your inbox, and you’ll have one last chance to review any changes before it goes out. When you snooze an email in, it gets moved from the Inbox folder to the Snoozed folder. Once you’ve scheduled a message, snooze it until shortly before the delivery time. To schedule an email in Gmail, hit the down arrow next to the Send button on the web, or tap the “…” in the top-right corner on mobile devices. You could also use snooze to remind yourself of looming deadlines and resurface travel itinerary on the day of your trip.įinally, you can use Snooze in conjunction with scheduled emails. Instead of letting those invites clutter up my inbox, I’ll snooze them until shortly before each meeting. Speaking of reminders, snoozing is a great way to resurface appointment information when you need it, especially now that we’re all dealing with a barrage of Zoom links. Although Gmail can automatically suggest follow-up items through its own “Nudges” feature, snoozing gives you full control over the timing and messages that need further action. If the recipient does respond, it’ll cancel out whatever snooze you’ve set so your inbox will stay uncluttered. I’ve also started snoozing my own emails, so they’ll return to the inbox for a follow-up if no one responds.
